Wonderful read, I really enjoyed it. If you like older classy classic motorcycles like Moto Guzzis that are no longer loved but are hidden away unwanted and neglected in old barns and sheds you will enjoy this. Nick is a true adventurer who just takes the minimum of gear on what is a very old motorcycle and then sets off into desolate, unpopulated landscapes in Canada more for his interest and solitude, then this is a book to be savoured and read slowly. Only available as an e book I understand, but it is a book that I would love to put on my bookshelf so I can re- read it and thumb over the pages and then lend it to good friends. I felt that I was in Canada riding along with him on the journey.

This book shows you don't need a million dollar budget, a support truck and a trhirty thousand dollar adventure bike. to tackle wild roads. Great stories of surviving with knowledge of an old bike, mechanical skills and courage to go alone for no reason other than the adventure.

A Book For People Who Ride

Easy read and great fun. I have no desire to travel the long dreary roads of Canada's wilderness but this book makes it all sound like tremendous fun. Unlike most "motorcycle stories" the author here actually focuses on the experience of riding the bike. He really enjoys his rides and his dimple story telling is full of the wonder of being allowed such a privilege. The fact that he is chaotic and disorganized and forgetful just adds to the adventure. Highly recommended.

Old Guy, Old Bike, Bad Roads, Great Stories

I've been following Nick's adventures on the Wild Guzzi board for a number of years and this collection of his (mis-)adventures is a great read. Old guy, old bike, back roads miles from anywhere - what could go wrong?

This is not your Charlie and Ewen story, all polished with a full support team following them. No, this is one man and his trips on his beloved Moto Guzzis out and around Canada.

If you've ridden anywhere off the beaten track by yourself, you can relate to Nick's stories. Easy to read, with humor and insight.

Highly recommended.

A wonderful collection of motorcycle tours, featuring beautiful Canadian byways and a lovely array of classic Guzzi's.

Nick Adams writes with a clear, forthright style, making you feel like an old friend ambling along for the ride. He ably conveys the wonderful feeling of sailing through air while absorbing the ever changing environment - a sensation which lies at the heart of true motorcycle touring. Exposure and discomfort aside, it is what makes motorcycle miles so enjoyable.

Venturing forth on a 45 year old steed makes every trip an adventure. Doing so on some of the most remote and rugged "roads" in North America makes things doubly so. Nick's trusty Moto Guzzi Eldorado is one of the very few genuine classics actually up to the task. And, the author's ability to "make and mend" his way through myriad mechanical mishaps and flat tires in the middle of nowhere provides a glimpse of true character.

Heartily recommended to experienced motorcyclists - and those who aspire to become so!

These past few weeks I've been stalking grumpily around the house, staring out the windows at snow and wishing I lived in a country with year-round biking. This book arrived just in time to save lives.

It is well-written, witty, and highly engaging. I can't imagine ever being crazy enough to replicate the adventures described, but I sure enjoyed reading about them. Now if only spring would get here....

I carry a fairly comprehensive tool kilt. 
Tube(s) and patch kit (usually!), tyre irons,
MG ring headed wrench for axle nuts, metric wrenches 8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,17,19
phillips and standard screwdrivers,
plug wrench, electrical tape, duct tape

spare clutch cable (usually one for the wrong bike)
bulbs, spare points, various bits for ignition wires

I always forget something, and whatever it is I've forgotten, is what I'm certain to need.
