California Vintage Passenger Backrest/Interchange?
« on: December 27, 2015, 12:10:56 PM »
Hi
I'm new to the forum. I own a 2009 California Vintage with a stock luggage rack. I'm in search of a passenger backrest for the rare times I have a co-pilot.

I want to keep my bike stock and I don't want to change the looks, or  aesthetics of this beautiful bike.

Is there anything out there that will bolt on to the rack?

Will other MG models interchange with the  CA Vintage (i.e. backrest, topcase, etc)?

Please advise

Thank you!

Tony

Hello Tony,
I agree with you to keep the bike as original as possible. Have a look at www.stein-dinse.biz and the spare parts list for MG Cali EV. A bit down in the list there is the luggage-rack with a original back rest. Works fine on my 2001 EV and might fit to your frame as they should be the same. Almost 400 EUR for a new one is a robbery but EUR 150 for a used one is a bargain. Or ask www.rebootguzzispar es.com, they´re breaking a Cali 2000 right now!
Good luck!

Other racks won't work with the Calvin's rear rack and seat surround.  My answer was a topcase with passenger backrest.

Had a Givi Top Box with mine. Bolts straight on to the rack. About five minutes to remove all evidence  it was there( Had to do it for my wedding) Have a touring now and things are more expensive due to having to buy factory parts. I do miss the Vintage ground clearance. Hope this helps out.
