CalVin Fueling issues
« on: January 04, 2016, 04:07:06 PM »
Hi Folks

I have been following Tom H's thread about the fueling issues he was having wiht his  '04 EVT.  I'm glad to see that they have been resolved (more or less).

I have been having issues with the fueling on my 08 CalVin - inconsistant idle, backfiring on light or trailing throttle and poor throttle response across the entire RPM band.  I have enlisted Nick949 to help - he has the proper pigtails, Guzzidiag software, a laptop and some experience in remapping a similar motor (Breva).  Now I need to chase down an appropriate map.

The bike is a 2008 California Vintage with 22,000 km on it.

It has a Guzzitech crossover with the hole for the Lamda sensor and Lafranconi Reservati Competizione mufflers.  The OEM catcon and mufflers are available.  I plan to perform a Cannisterectomy on it as part of the remapping exercise.  I believe that it has the OEM air filter (K&N?).

I ass-u-me that it has the OEM ECU - from Tom's thread I ass-u-me that it has the 15RC ECU.

Is there any way to tell which version of ECU by making a simple visual inspection?

Is there anyone out there who has a map that will correct the fueling issues and conforms to the above engine parameters?

Suitable recompense can & will be negotiated.

Cheers!

Should be a 15RC. You can confirm by looking, will be printed on it somewhere.

I went through a lot if trial and error with my '09 Calvin.  The BEST combo was open airbox, GuzziTech H-pipe and STOCK mufflers.  ECU reflash to eliminate O2 sensor and closed loop fueling.  I had Mistrals on the bike, but they were too free flow in combo with the airbox and crossover.   I never could eliminate the popping on decelleration.  You'll need to plug the crossover bung after pulling the O2 sensor.  If you go that route, PM me and I'll send you a link for the plug.

Bottom line, map was richer and similar to aV11 Sport.  Bike ran like a raped spotted Himyalian snow ape.

I have a 15M that came off a V-11 sport (at least that is what I was told) to put on my 1999 Bassa. No change so I swapped back. Would this map work on the 15RC ECU? Would I be able to copy the map and send it to Geoff to see if it would help???

I had a V11 Sport (Scura) 15M ECU in my Calvin for 5K miles.  Ran great, totally different personality (better).  Only issue was it pinged when I hammered the throttle under heavy load on a hot day.  Seems the dual plugged Calvin's timing was different from the single plugged Sport's.  That's when I had Todd do the reflash of my stock ECU to mimick the Sport's map.  Same performance with no more pinging.

You can copy the 15M map with GuzziDiag reader and send to Geoff, but it won't directly load on his 15RC. However, he can copy the tables in the map with TunerPro and plug them into his map, then  load that onto his 15RC with GuzziDiag Writer and that will work. I have been modifying a 15M and 15RC this way the last few days. Of course there may be a better way since I am pretty much an idiot with computers, lol!

Hi All

Thanx for your responses.  I have received three potential maps from Terry in Kansas.

We will have to wait for spring to try them out.

Cam - what year/model Toyrotor is the drain plug from?  My BIL works for Benson's Auto Parts so that should be an easy find.

Just trying to line up all my ducks.....

Cheers!
