Ned's seat and Vetter fairing on 02 EV

 I just got my seat back from Jim at Ned's Seats in Iowa. Really nice guy to work with and they did a fabulous job. Built the seat up higher and wider. Had to share some pics for those of you considering having a seat redone. I have had many seats redone over the years, including 2 Sargents.....one currently on the Norge and one on my ST1300.

Here's some pics of the Vetter Rooster fairing. I bought it on ebay and it was in sad shape. Here's a before picture.



And some after pictures....had to sand, primer, and repaint.  Install new speakers, new radio that plays from a sd card or flash drive. Installed a switch for my running lights, and voltmeter. The entire fairing plugs in via a trailer 4 wire harness, abd can be removed in about 10 minutes. Bought new bullet style turn signals, since the factory one were too big to relocate.








I have about 200.00 total in the fairing. That doesn't include the windshield that I made myself. You can make pretty much anything with the right equipment. I built a form in the shop....heated the Plexiglas to about 300 degrees, and it pretty much forms itself.

Now all I need is some decent weather to take my new MG Harley out for a test ride.

Me too. A few years ago I bought a NOS old Shoei fairing for another bike on Ebay and have ended up putting it on our `77 Convert. that has a tall, wide handlebar.  No way did I think that fairing would work with that handlebar, but it does!   Wish I could show you a pic but I'm not capable of that.

 I have had a Vetter Windjammer on several bikes.....recently my Bassa.  have a couple that are posted on the Vetter website. This is my first Rooster, a Vetter product that was conceived after Craig Vetter sold the company.......not many of them made.

A higher seat surface sure makes a nice difference on a Cali. I like the entire package...well thought out and great looking. Well done!

Very nice.  I've had two Ned's and they are quite attractive seats on the Calis.  I really preferred, more greatly enjoyed the two piecer they did for my Jackal.  It was more level on the plank and just looked and functioned better than the one piece pan they did for my previous Touring Stone which was built up too much in back and not enough in the front, giving it a small forward pitch into the area that was least protective.  I'm sure Jim would have redone the seat for me had I asked but I traded her in for the V7 Stone.  Nonetheless, both seats were very much improvements over the painful stocker and gave me a tremendous bit more legroom that I greatly needed.  Hope you enjoy yours.

Yea, the stock seat was like sitting in an upside down horseshoe covered in razor blades.

Tim:  I'll be very interested to hear your observations on the Ned's seat fitted to your EV after you've ridden it for a few thousand miles, maybe even fewer.  I say this because in looking at the photo of your EV, the seat appears to have a definite upward slant toward the rear.  This is the death knell of comfort.  I have a Ned's seat just like yours on my 03 Stone Touring and I sent it back to Jim as unrideable for more than 10 miles--no exaggeration.  I gave Jim very specific measurements for the re-work and he came close, but the up-slant still was there.  I took an electric carving knife and did my own surgery to keep the seat parallel to the ground when I'm on it. An Alaska Leather sheepskin pad made the seat even better.

Corbin seats are firm, but I have had several and IMHO Corbin gets the seat right for human anatomy.  Softer is not good if the shape is wrong.

That fairing really looks good there.  Is that the bike's stock headlight, or part of the fairing?

It is not the stock (I don't think) as it is an 8" diameter headlight, and came on the bike. The headlight does not mount to the fairing, so you can remove the fairing pretty quick if you like. The fairing electrics plug together with a  4 way trailer plug, so when you remove the fairing you don't have the voltmeter or auxiliary light switch. I'm sure I'll leave it on all the time here in the frozen mountains of N. Idaho

Thanks.  That's what it looks like.  Vinyl for durability and no maintenance, leather for looks, comfort, and a bit of breath-ability, and Alcantra for the ultimate comfort in warm weather.

I am so glad to see that Jim is still active and doing well.  He is the nicest vendor I can remember dealing with.  So polite, helpful, friendly, great disposition some of the other MG cycle parts suppliers could learn a lot from Jim.

I HIGHLY recommend Ned's.
