electric fuel valve on my 850-t

what were they thinking? I cleaned my electric and the manual petcocks on my 850-t today. whats the purpous of the electric fuel valve? and why only 1? I can see 2 of one or the other but 1 of each?

I don't think the electrovalve was original on the T or T3, only V7 Sport, 750S?, S3?, Convert and G5. The idea was that you wouldn't need to operate a manual petcock to run the bike and fuel would be shut off automatically when you weren't. If plumbed into the original fuel line cross, one is all that's needed to feed both cylinders. The manual petcock is used as a reserve only.

The electrovalve is a known leaker - not to the outside, but internally. It'll let fuel flow when it shouldn't, with the possibility of the carb(s) overflowing and/or filling the engine sump with gas. Buy two new "diamond-shaped" manual petcocks and be done with it.

after looking at mgcycles website, i decided to go with the diamonds. ill run 1 manual one till i can buy a set.

this bike was a frankenbike when i got it. had a sportster tank, sad. it has dual disc brakes. had drag bars on it. no tellen what it really is. title says 1975 moto guzzi. i know the cyls were bored. now heres the crazy part. its a standard bore for a 850! vin is 92410 built sep 74. so is it a 850-t or what?

VIN is correct for a T. Original cylinders would have been chrome bore, so maybe they were bored and iron liners of the stock 83 mm size installed?

one side thats tore down is not chrome and it rusted so id say iron then
