This riding season....
« on: September 17, 2018, 11:51:30 AM »
...sucked.

Last winter was long, we never had a spring. We quite literally went from -16 one week, to +10 the next.

Now? We seem to be skipping fall entirely. From +20 two weeks ago, to -3 this week. Snow last night.

I think this may be the shortest season I've had that I can remember. Wife's bike is getting winterized this week (her Reynaud's makes cold weather riding unpleasant), mine probably won't be far behind.

This sucks, rant off.
Old enough to say I've done it, young enough to do it again.

We've had a very wet "season", so I haven't ridden nearly as much as I normally do and quite a few of the times I did ride have been rather soggy.

I'm in central NC and this has been a hot, high humidity and dew point miserable summer, unfit for any type of outdoors activities, especially ridding a motorcycle. We have a hurricane of biblical portion and followed up with 85 degree and high humidity and dew points. Hoping for cooler dryer weather soon.

Agreed. We went from winter to rain to now more rain and getting dark early. The good news was the 6 days this summer it didn't rain were Wednesday and Thursday. Just it time for the rain to settle back in Friday afternoon and steady rain every Saturday and Sunday.

Well, I have been able to ride on quite a few Sundays without getting wet. Including yesterday, when I went right by your house!  :azn:

Western New York has been good this year.  Hot and humid but all in all ok.
Jackal ran a nice 250 yesterday.  What a blast!

yeah this summer has been terrible riding for me.. lots of rain on my commutes and no riding vacation at all.. by far my lowest mileage year ever and now I have a damaged nerve in my left wrist so have not ridden at all for a few weeks (accept yesterday I took the CT90 for a spin to the store.) It's a real bummer since I'm left handed.

I've had a good year. Continued waking up.  Rode to Wisconsin, Ohio, and with any luck at all, Kentucky in a couple of weeks. Just got back from Tennessee. Ran many errands with the bagger. Several thousand miles, and it's not over yet.  :thumb:

Lots of riding possible for end of Sept thru Oct.  Hoping for reasonable weather.

Got Barbers Motorsports/MotoAmerica 21-23 Sept.

Guzzi get together at Suches, GA 28-30 Sept.

Back to Barbers for Vintage Days, 3-6 Oct.

After Vintage Days heading to the Mountains, Deals Gap camping and riding 7-11 Oct

The summer was so hot just didint feel much like doing any camping so looking forward to some cooler weather up north.

Had a great summer here. Toured the US in a big loop again, most of the rest has been day trips, bicycling and sailing.

It's been hot and humid in New England, but after a wet spring mostly sunny. But of course the best of the riding season has just started here! Can't tell where you are if you don't add location to your profile.

Two days of rain on this trip, the first two, then beautiful since then, touring western Montana this week, Temps in the forties in the morning and seventies in the day, headed for yellowstone tomorrow sometime. Glad I'm not back east in all the mud and storms!

Lots of rain in the Mid-Atlantic this year.  So I went other places; Georgia in March for single track, WV dual sport in April, July in Colorado for dual sport, August went cross Canada and around Great lakes on the Norge, Hatfield-McCoy, WV in Aug, Back of the Dragon in VA( right before the rains), Friday we are off for the Dolomites in Italy.  Your are right, it's not over yet!  Already starting to plan for rides next year in Montana and Idaho.

Yep — not a good summer here, following no Spring. But Fall is arguably the best riding season in these parts, so here’s hoping for a good one....

That was New England, too.  It was even hot & humid on the Maine coast.

Aren't you in Carlisle? If so you didn't miss much other than looing out your garage door at the torrential downpours.

Yep, and you're spot on. Gotta say this is the most humid place I've EVER lived. Think we've had 3 days below 90% whole time we've been here (since mid july)
