He was a long time member of the board but pulled the pin some time, even a few years, ago. He was want to express some opinions quite strongly which was what probably led to his departure, but more to the point, he made and sold brake levers for Cali and such like, that  could be operated without lifting the foot onto the "mini foot peg" as is normally required.

Does anyone remember him and  know how I can get in contact with this fellow?

If you're referring to the "Advanced" brake pedal that runs under the floorboard, they're no longer made.

They are no longer made but it's not that hard to fabricate one. below are pictures of the one that I made with a torch and buzz box welder. This was made around 2003 and works great. It's actually what the Advance pedal was copied after:
