Great sounding 1100 Sport
« on: February 13, 2016, 06:05:51 PM »
I stopped by a local shop a few days ago and had was able to hear this 1996 1100 Sport run. Wow. Probably the best sounding Guzzi that I've ever heard, very healthy sounding. It may be that Guzzi's sound best with dual exhausts. I never paid that much attention to these before. I noticed it had a long wheel base like my Griso and Darmah, but a lower, more aggressive seating position with clip-on's.  If this bike is still around when it warms up a bit, then I'm taking it out for a ride. This might be a decent Darmah replacement

It's just my opinion, but these Sports, both the carb and injected models are some of the most underrated Moto Guzzi's.

I've had three, and put a collective 70,000+ miles on them. They are durable and make good power. They are also one of the best looking Guzzis.

They make a nice Sunday morning canyon carver, and also can do tour duty, if you can come up with a good luggage setup. My longest day ride on my injected model was about 450.

1980.  But it is no longer mine.  I sold it last November.  It was a wonderful motorcycle, but I just like to try new ones every few years so I sold it.

So it will be more nimble. The 1100 Sport definitely looks like a long, low bike with that sexy fairing.

Snow is on the ground right now, but in few weeks it may be nice enough to ride.

It's gorgeous. I remember the first time I set my eyes on this model. 1995 or so, and was putting some money down on a 916. The dealership sold Guzzi's too, and one of these was on the floor.
I had been keeping my eyes open for one of these..or a V11. The latter popped up first, and I love it...but still..
I wish I hadn't seen this!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With the right tires, and front ride height, it can be sorta nimble.  But, the narrow clip-ons do require effort.

The GRiSO's wide bars probably make the steering effort feel relatively light.

This one was for sale some time ago so I wonder if they're in a hagglin' frame of mind?

Got the pretty forks and the right induction - if I didn't already have one (in the proper RED) I'd think hard about it.

It's gorgeous. I remember the first time I set my eyes on this model. 1995 or so, and was putting some money down on a 916. The dealership sold Guzzi's too, and one of these was on the floor.

I specifically bought mine over a 916 in '95. Some for looks and some because a died in the wool Ducati pal, knowing me, talked me outa the 916.

I've had a close look at it the last couple times I've been in there.  But as I told Carl, buying it would mean coming to live with him.
