Nice mix.
I also have a V7 and a Norge.  Funny thing is that the Norge gets the "away for several days or longer nod" and the V7 gets the all day or overnight ride call even if it's 400 miles, or more, each way.

I'm quite fond of both bikes but every time I hit the gas on the V7 with the Augostinis I giggle like a schoolboy!

My mileage does vary: I have had telelever bikes for the last eighteen years, and consider this feature to one of BMW's best for street use. Separating the steering forces from suspension forces is a good thing. It eliminates 90% of brake dive (and preserves valuable suspension travel under hard braking) without requiring any complex electronics. Also allows the use of top quality front shock (I use Ohlins) with no need to replace the fork. I'm sorry they dropped it on the R1200R/RS watercooled machines.

Me too. absolutely love the telelever bikes for those same reasons.

I'd bank the cash and buy a late model new Norge.

I was thinking the same. The Norge would seem to be a good fit for what he's looking for. And you can't beat the sale prices. It will give you great wind protection on the longer trips and already has the luggage. The R1200R could be fitted with windshield and luggage, but probably at $1.5K- $2K added price.

Went with a 2015 R1200R WC/LC.

NICE!

I haven't ridden the R1200R, but, have ridden the GS w/ the same motor.     Can you say TORQUE!
The new wasserboxer R1200R is definitely on the list of bikes that I want.

For ME, the Griso tank range is annoying if I was touring on it. Getting off every 2 hours does make my knees and taint very happy due to the riding position. I love my Griz, but only at short distance. Wind protection for me on longer trips is a must due to the fatigue...The Stelvio is a great touring mount FOR ME.

You can farkle the Griz for GPS, heat, etc, but it's still a griso. Adding luggage doesn't help the looks. Riding with a tank bag and backpack stink on ice. Your call.

Which one is going to call to you more? The looks/feel of a griso or the comfort/ease of a BMW?

Yeah, as Kev kinda hinted earlier following one of my posts, I do think the op made the right decision FOR HIM in this instance.  I love, love, love this gnarly '15 Griso I just acquired but I've already spent more aftermarket dollars on it than I like to spend on bikes, and this just to make it more into a kind of R1200R or 1200 Breva Sport that it is not nor ever was meant to be:  windshield, 2" Vario rear and lowered pegs, Corbin seat, etc.  And now even considering risers.  The op seemed to already know what he wanted prior to this post but I do that all the time myself on here as well just to double check my own opinions and seek insight maybe I had not considered.
