I'm not sure how they're getting 90hp (dependably) out of the old lump (stock on US version is 58 at the crank.)  Looks like it'd be one nice ride, however.  $20-25K? .... more perhaps?

I like it too but, based on my significant and hard desert riding experiences I would question two of the front end choices given my past:

The front caliper looks to be in peril.

I wonder if the real-world benefits of USD forks on a hard ridden bike are worth the possibility (I've done it more than once) of breaking those guards and exposing the shiny bits?

Your experience level is waaay beyond mine.  My dirt-deprived GS has been on dirt or gravel only when I've made a wrong turn!  Good to see comments from someone who does the off-road stuff.

Bob , I'll bet the cylinder heads are built to first gen 1,000 CC specs and then lightly ported . That alonG with a slightly bumpier cam , 40 MM carbs , and a decent exhaust would probably get you to an honest 85 HP .

Dusty - don't doubt the hp could be made ..... I'm thinking back to when Pridmore rode the modified R90S in Superbike.  Udo Geitl and the gang discovered that the modded engine's cylinders didn't want to seal tightly against the block, and Pridmore's boots would be soaked with oil after a test run.  The solution ..... fab up some tin 'gutters' to redirect the oil mist.

Yeah , but those superbike engines were making about 100 HP and turning upwards of 5K RPM's for long periods of time . Udo was a genius

Really nice GS. It's no wonder fate limited my purchasing power...
