Norge tail bag?

I have a tail bag that I like, except that it attaches via elastic cords that abraded my seat. I've gone back to using the top box, which is roomy and weather proof, but it is kinda huge for daily riding (hauling my lunch and gym shorts).

I notice that MG actually has a factory tail bag now, GU95040300001, which expands from 22 to 26 liters and is attached in a way that avoids seat damage (or looks to per the photos).


Questions:

Is anyone using the factory tail bag and can comment on it?

Anyone using a tail bag that they like that doesn't attach via elastic cords?

maybe try slipping a piece of foam pipe insulation over the cords?

they are just too tight and they actually mess with the foam as well as the leather in the seat.

It requires a rain cover, just like the MG Norge tank bag. Not bad, just inconvenient where we live in rainy Oregon. Also, it is not locking. (We have thieves here as well as rain.)

Me? I'd stick with the top case. It is supremely practical, even if it does tame the sporting looks of the Norge.

Cortech Super 2.0 24 liter. Thousands of miles on the passenger seat, no marks. I use Velcro straps to hold it on. It never shifts out of position.

It sits on its own pad. The pad hangs over the seat edge so the straps can't abrade the seat. Comes with a waterproof liner. They make various sizes.

I wonder if that would fit on the top box bracket which I have mounted, would be more aerodynamic, not locking of course, but provide a little bit more space for Mademoiselle's personal effects...would have to see how it anchors.  Matching tank bag already on the bike, so might be a good pairing.

My top case is getting beat up from being on all the time. A lot cheaper to replace a bag than a top case.
