Luggage for V7
« on: April 04, 2016, 03:33:23 AM »
As the touring season approaches I'd like to fit some hard side cases to my 2011 V7 cafe classic.
I already have a givi hard top case fitted to the rear rack.
I've seen classics and stones with very nice hepco and becker cases but never a cafe classic.
My main concern is the upset mistral pipes that are fitted to my bike and rhe chances of them either interfering with the fit of hard side cases or, if they will fit, the chances of heat from the exhausts damaging the cases.
Does anyone have a photo of hard luggage fitted to a cafe classic or better still actual experience of fitting such items?

Thanks.

Judging from the number of replies vs. views, it's not looking promising.

A suggestion, (in case you have not considered it), might be to purchase a set of mounts for the H-B bags for another model V7. Then employ someone to modify the mounts to angle the bag section for your pipes. Cut, weld, powder coat or paint. I realize this is more than you may be willing to go into, but it may be that or soft bags. If you do that, be aware the bags sit below the mounts a bit. If in doubt, many here can give you that measurement for reference.

h+b or krauser c-bow are made for your bike.
I have the h+b. for the cafe classic one set of brackets are shorter on the c-bow kit because of the raised exhaust. You can only get small side bags with the c-bow but they are very tidy looking and the c-bow connector is very convenient.
I think Krauser is I H+B B-brand so the c-bow and bags should be interchangable?
There was some confusion of mislabelling the cafe classic and classic c-bow so be careful to get the right kit. the assembly instructions are downloadable from h+b which is useful to ensure you order the correct kit.

I was going to say that I think the C-bow is the off-the-shelf option.

That's what Jay runs with his Racer which has the same upswept exhaust right? (Maybe he'll be along with some photos for you).

I like your engine guards! They look a little more streamlined and integrated than some of the others I've seen.. where'd you get 'em? :) And the luggage rack, I want one of those too.

Penderic,
Those old Cravens look great.  Really match the bike.
I had a 50 yr old set of Cravens for my '58 Bmw that I let go to someone else.  They had gotten ratty, and I knew I wasn't going to renew them.

I love the look of them. Very easy to use. But when I found them only the fiberglass shells were re-buildable, the metal bits and frame were too far gone. Repaced the gaskets, hinges, latches and made some custom mounts for the modern luggage rack I already had. The Craven company is supposed to be making a comeback with the same luggage products again but its years since I have seen anything from them. Somebody should buy the company and take avantage of the growing sales in Brit and European of the brand new retro models.  The current accessory type plastic panniers are good but they could look much better, in my opinion.  :boozing:

Those head guards were the older Stucchi made ones for the 750 Breva. I painted mine black. I have them off at the moment. I like the looks of them too but the only problem I found were the light weight mounts and the right hand side head guard vibrated very strongly at certain rpms and I could definitely feel it.  I think I will put them back on once I weld some reinforcement metal at the guard's mounting points.

Panderic - love the bike and the panniers and would be happy with that set up.
unfortunately my bike's upswept exhausts limit the choice of hard luggage. Might have to be the c bow setup.
