Wrench, no wrench....what's up?
« on: April 17, 2016, 04:19:29 PM »
I rode across town today, it's warm but not hot. First start was normal. Parked for half an hour, turned the key, and the flashing wrench icon appeared below the temp display. Key off and back on, still there. Started normally and the wrench went away and didn't come back while riding. Got home, same pattern, flashing wrench icon with key on and disappears after starting. Starting and running are normal.

I've got the voltmeter out, will wait an hour to measure voltage across the battery. It was 12.65 volts after parking but that may not mean much.

Any ideas what the wrench may be trying to tell me? Did the dealer maybe not reset the service mileage counter at the recent service?

It's approaching a service interval. 250km before th enter all the wrench icon will start to flash on start up but will then go away. Once you reach the interval it will come on and stay on.

Thanks Pete! I'll swing by the dealer and get them to reset it. Second consecutive time they've forgotten to do that.

The icon means you should hit it with a wrench before starting.

Do it yerself and save the wasted trip to the dealer. I don't have the Norge service code to hand but I'm sure you can google it up without too much hassle. Go to 'Diagnostics' in the menu, then insert the service code, that will bring up another menu, scroll down to reset service, hold the button down, choose 'Yes' hold the button down. It will say 'Reset completed. Turn off ignition for ten seconds and turn it on again, voila, no more icon.

I just ignore the 'wrench' and it goes away after awhile on my scooters.  Heck, I can't even go from klm to miles or Celsius to F.
