'97 sport 1100 fuel tank breather ????
«

I picked up the '97 from mesa yesterday. It will need a lot of love !!! The tank has a breather line on top, just in front of the fuel fill. It just does not look right ???? Is this OWN or something the PO cobbled up?? Thx, dave.

Dave,
The Sport 1100s did not have an external breather hose on the top of the tank, like Ducatis (and some Guzzis) of the era had.
There should be nothing but a fuel cap on the top of the tank.
Can you post a pic ?

on my sport ( carb) , there is an overflow built into the fuel cap assy which connects via a short hose to a nipple inside the tank, which then has a hose from beneath that's drains the overflow fuel behind the gearbox.

I saw the bike and that is a total cob. brass fitting tapped into the top of the tank. Forgot about that. I guess they thought it was vaporlocking . When that was rectified and the bike still wouldn't run they figured it must be the fuel pump. Parts swap roulette. I still think some wire somewhere is loose. I'm curious what is preventing her from running.
