So I've had this critter a few weeks now. I've done more wrenching than riding so far. Bike looked well cared for but had NO SERVICE HISTORY. So at 41,000 miles I'm inspecting and servicing EVERYTHING. Full shop manual and parts book in high quality color is available online. Ran off a fancy copy where I used to work. It's a really great way to get intimate with a new machine.
So here I am changing brake fluid at the rear master cylinder and looking over the plug that goes into the ECU. There are a couple of connectors pigtailed out the back of this connector. One is #56, a three wire "diagnostic" plug.
THE ONE IN QUESTION:
Plug #26 is a two wire round polarized connector. It mated with a second connector that at one time had something on the wire ends.
This is labeled "LIGHT EMITTING DIODE (CHECK LAMP)" on the proper wiring diagram.
Couldn't find any info what this lamp might be for. Got the feeling it might be left unplugged unless doing diagnostics? I remember reading flash codes out of a car diagnostic port using an LED before modern diagnostics were commonplace.
ANYONE? What is this lamp for?
