Best way to ship large parts?

I'm selling off some larger parts, (saddle bags fuel tanks.) What's the best way to ship stuff like that?

Best way is local pickup.  If you're selling, next best way is to leave it up to the buyer.  Air freight is surprisingly inexpensive, and postal service can be a good deal for odd shapes and oversizes.  I se the greyhound busses towing those parcel trailers a lot on the open highways, so I know they do it too.

The fuel tank can be problematic for anyone what with fumes and all.  Take care to clean it out and describe it simply as "a tank" unless asked more specifically.  Any that I have had shipped were scrubbed out really well or so old and shelf-aged that they didn't smell like anything anymore.

I once shipped a tonti frame via greyhound, Mpls to Wyoming.. took 2 week.. went to Chicago, Kansas City and Utah then to Evanston Wy..

so FedEx is worth the price.

Figure out the size and weight of the box, then go to each of the services and you can get a price before choosing.

We have had the best luck with US postal service for the size and weight of boxes we ship.  UPS damaged too many packages for us.  FedEx was more expensive for same delivery time.

if you need insurance coverage from USPS be sure to take pics of the item before and the packaging as you send it.. without documents USPS will deny your claim..BTDT

I have shipped many of those type items by USPS.

I used to use UPS but USPS is much cheaper and service just as good from my experience.
