850T Sidestand: Good or bad?

I don't know if this thing should do this. I also can't figure out what the roller at the top of the mount is suppose to do.

It seems sturdy and at 800lbs for the stand alone it should be.  :undecided:

Side question: Does this side stand limit the choices for headers?

Worlds best ss.. That cam locks it in place when weight of bike is on it. Should not interfere with any headers.

So aside from scruffy looking it appears normal?

What does the stand pivot on? Are there wear parts? Just throw a handful of grease in there every once in awhile?

Love that setup on the T3. I can park nose down on any downgrade and not worry about the stand folding even if the bike wants to roll forward.

I have a Brown side stand on my V7 Sport and will be installing on eon my 750S as well. The mounting is hidden and the quality is super. Very stable stand.

Boxerworks sells them to fit the Tonti frame

Browns look nice and are well made. Had one on my BMW R100RT. But they will sink into soft stuff more easily than the Moto Guzzi  Police stand. They will also fold if parked nose down on a sufficient incline. The Guzzi Police Stand made the bike a stable tripod on anything but quicksand.

I wouldn't put it past surviving quicksand!

Looks normal to me. The only wear part I've seen on those is that the inside of the locking lug may try to round (it won't all the way, but it will develop a play in it) where it locks on to the actual stand shaft. If that's the case, you can always get a new beefier one.

http://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=73&products_id=371

Some of the later models, Convert, G5 have a tab as part of that piece that activates the side stand safety switch.

As far as the spinny-tube goes... beats me. I think it's there to prevent the tip from wearing over time, or maybe helps it from not catching when lowering the bike on the stand.

Take the stand off to inspect the lock and shaft it if that makes you feel better. I know it did for me.

Is that Brown stand a straight bolt on or do you need to fabricate any parts to make it fit?

Any idea how I can get one in the UK?

Thanks

I worked with the guys at Boxerworks to develop the modified Brown for Guzzi Tonti frames.  The prototype is on my V7 Sport.  It's bolt on.  You need to remove the exhaust and run the rear engine mount through the tranny from right to left.  Same for the laft center stand bolt.  Each gets threaded into the mounting plate on the stand.  I did a photo tutorial of my installation if you search this forum.  They're expensive, but so is your bike's bodywork.  Piece of mind!

Was this stand welded onto the bike or did the PO just replace a lower frame rail from a Police T3?

No, my motorcycles never fall over, even when parked.

No, my motorcycles never fall over, even when parked.

Yes, but they are so big with the sidecar don't you need a reverse gear?
