Got my V7II Stone seat back (again) from Sargent: Right on!

With much anticipation I signed for my seat today from Sargent and frankly I'm disappointed.  It looks like they just reused ALL of the stock vinyl/cover.   The only thing I wanted saved was the rear logo on the stock seat.  I signed up for pleated (cushioned) vinyl in Sargent's own proprietary marine grade/custom vinyl. 

I DO like the bench style and the height over stock. The added height is perfect.

However, since it looks like that the added height was stuffed into the stock seat cover there is a pronounced hump in the seating area, all the pressure is in the middle, it's just like sitting on a narrow bicycle seat.  Or a hyper-inflated whoopie cushion.  Damm this seat hurts.  Not trying to be TMI, but within 15 minutes my junk went numb and I had no feeling until I got off the bike.  My pelvic and tail bones are still burning hours later.

In the pics you can see what I got back (back and left) compared with the MotoGuzzi stock deluxe padded seat. 

This is going back, I was expecting a bit more custom craftsmanship than just stuffing memory foam into the stock cover's stretch limit and restapling. 

The seating area needs to be wider and flatter.  Sargent knows how to do this, maybe I got a rookie?

I did, the guy was very apologetic on email and said they would take care of it.  He seemed to know he made a risky call, and it backfired.

Now i gotta ship this beast back.

Yep, no good.  Like you said, it needs to be wider and flatter.  Stock, the V7II seat has a sort of flattish area of 9 inches, pretty much at the embossed front-to-back seams on the left and right sides.  My local rebuild netted me 13+ flat inches across the butt area, tapering to the OEM 9 inches at the tank to allow good leg clearance to pegs and ground.  I've got a couple threads showing my seat rebuild, from last fall and again this spring, if you search my user name.

Looks like all they did was jam foam in to flatten out the hump between rider and passenger.  No good.  A seat shape that resembles straddling a tree log is no good.  After a few minutes that shape feels like a wedge up your pelvic bone.

I'm sure they'll take care of you, I've seen a bunch of good looking work from Sargent. That's coming from a guy that once made a living in the sewing industry.

Couldn't have said it better myself!  And you are 100% correct.   9 to 13 inches is very close to the Triumph Scrambler seat and that seat (2014+ versions) is just fine by me.

Hoping this will be done right this time, I need a seat for long distance trips!

Got the seat back, and in all fairness wow what a difference.  Rode for 2 hours and my junk did NOT fall asleep.  I will get pics up ASAP.

I'm sending them another stock seat since now they are on it.  I love a good seat!!

Sargent only added some foam to the sides of my Bassa seats.  I discovered this when the seats were not sitting any better a year later, I removed the covers to see if they relayered the foam...nope.  They talked to me about all the special foam that would be layered and formed on the seat pan....nope.  They only added some sticky silly putty stuff to the top of the stock foam (they forgot to do this originally) and sent them back to me again.  I sold them and had a real set of seats made by Rich Maund (now retired) seen below.
