NTX Oil Presure Event

Very hot day in eastern Missouri. Pulled off to get something to eat on my 2012 Stelvio NTX, ambient temp at 100F. Park and head in for some truly needed iced tea and a bit of food. Come back out saddle up and the bike starts hard. Cranks for a bit and then fires and runs rough. Blip throttle and it goes. Head out of the parking lot on to access road in heavy truck traffic and look down and see the red triangle and "SERVICE!" across the bottom of the dash. No way I can stop here in heavy traffic so I head down the access road until I can pull into the parking lot of a small liquor store about three miles down the road. Pull into a shaded spot and shut down the bike. Proceed to check the diagnostics on the bike and determine the dash error to be DSB 08. Oil pressure failure!. Somewhat skeptical as the bike is running fine and no indication of problems. The error will not clear. Check oil level and its fine. Oil looks good and has only 1k since last oil and filter change. I suspect a problem with the sensor but its hard to tell. There is no DBS 07 memo for an oil pressure sensor failure in the diagnostic so its hard decision time. Call for the trailer or bet on some kind of issue with the sensor. I am a long way form home have my grandson in the back and its really hot. Decide to go for it and take off. Bike runs fine, no indication of an issue except that the service alarm is still on my dash. About twenty five miles down the road the service note clears! Looked down and it is gone. Pull over when I can and run the diagnostic and it is indeed gone. Finish the ride home with out any indication that there is any problem. Check oil level again and it is as before OK. I plan on testing the sensor as per the procedure in the shop manual but have ordered a new sensor. Any ideal as to what is going on would be greatly appreciated. This is a new one on me and I am not sure what to make of it. Flakey sensor, heat causing something or some sort of instability? You have to love these newer machines. An oil pressure gauge would have been nice.

Flakey sensor. If you'd lost pressure to the point where it triggers the service warning the big ends would be dead in seconds.

As Pete said - almost certainly a sensor problem. If they are weak, heat can make them go over the edge. Let me know if you need one of the wiring adapter kits.
