8V Pre Roller Query
« on: June 15, 2016, 08:54:30 PM »
I have had my 2012 Stelvio into the dealer and confirmed the lifters are showing signs of degradation and was wondering what sort of time frame other owners with the same issue have been advise by there dealer concerning the approval for warranty replacement by Piaggio. I have now waited 8 weeks with no sign of approval at this point and wanted to know if this was standard ops from Piaggio.

Cheers

Normally, at least in Oz, it takes nowhere near that long. I'm currently waiting for approval on another 1200 Sport and haven't heard anything. It's been two or three weeks. Time I phoned up and had a sook I think.....

I usually get approval in a few days, a few more and I have parts. But that's here by ATL.  I would ask to see Pics & Documentation that they sent in to warranty. They should have that info for you.

I feel bad for you. I never had a Guzzi that needed a warranty claim. I would think they submit the claim and get a yea or nay in a day or so. If guzzi drags there feet more than that , I wouldn't stand for it. The manufacturer has an obligation ,legally, in most states to make a timely repair. I'd bitch to guzzi and the dealer. Fair is fair and you are not being treated fairly.

Mine took a while, about 6 weeks, because the C kit wasn't in the US.
Sounds like the dealer/someone isn't pushing hard for you.
Dilliw just had a Griso done. It wasn't too quick, but I think the delay was some other parts.

Don't confuse approval with completion. There is a world wide shortage of kits, (I wonder why?) and getting them can be a bit hit or miss but actually getting approval simply requires the importer to submit the docs and pics to the factory and then wait for a yay or nay. That doesn't usually take long here.

When I took it in the dealer spent a half hour on the phone with Guzzi Service Rep to understand what documentation was needed and what pictures needed to be taken.  After performing the inspection Guzzi approved claim that afternoon.   At least in February though there were no kits in the U.S. and that took about 4 weeks.

That pushed it to March and spring is the busiest time for the service bay at the dealer (they do watercraft and ATVs too).  So it took about another 2 weeks once the parts were there to get the bike on the lift.

Total was about 6 weeks for 4 hours of service work (Kit B).  Obviously Kit C is more involved if you need that one.

It's magic! That 'D' kit I mentioned I was waiting on? I got an email just after I wrote that saying it's been despatched from Sydney!

Usually I'm informed of approval a couple of days after the claim goes in. Not this time, but I know that the warranty bloke has been on leave and his minion has been holding the fort so that probably explains it.

I have had the approval for several weeks and am waiting for the kit to arrive.  My dealer has absolutely no idea how long this process will ultimately take.  His feedback just this morning is that Piaggio was doing this on an as needed basis only and since "we" have gotten wind of the underlying issue, they have been swamped and kit availability is a challenge.  Given that Piaggio made a running design change in late 2012, they should have prepared themselves for the onslaught they knew would come.  My my perspective, it was just a matter of time.

This more that likely is not standard WARRANTY.  At Piaggio's discretion they have been covering the parts and the owner pays the labor.  In this day and age this completely unheard off,  think BMW driveshaft failures...there attitude is FU pay up.

What is unusual is to determine the failure the tech needs to pull the cam box and photograph the damage and send off in a claim with the factory rep, there is a process.  Did you pay the dealer to disassemble and reassemble the heads or do they still have the bike?

they need to give you an answer or the dealer has screwed the process.

The dealer has done the inspection and advised me that all information has been submitted but every time I go in for a face to face he tells me they(Piaggio) have not provided an approval as of yet. I got the number for the regional Piaggio Rep so I will be calling him in the morning to see wtf the story is.

Cheers
