Norge Grips Suggestions?
« on: June 18, 2016, 12:50:41 PM »
Gotta buy a new pair of grips for the '07 Norge I got a couple weeks back.  They'll have to hold up to the heated base and bee durable overall.  Any recommendations?  Also, just curious, what is the Norge bar size at the grip?

Don't think you can change the grips on the Norge and still retain the heat option?
As to bar size 7/8"

Yes, thank you very much.  I'll contact Wayne or Crusty and find out how they did theirs.  Appears they may have cut the grip portion off leaving the heating element then slipped on grips over but not sure.

I have replaced them on my EV a couple of times, and as far as I can tell the Norge is identical.
Commonly, you have a 7/8" bar, and on the right a throttle tube on top of the 7/8", which is about 1". So when you buy grips, you get a 1" for the throttle and one for 7/8" tube on the left.
With the heaters, they put a tube on the left side also, so both sides are 1". What I have done is buy two sets of grips, and throw away the two lefts. Put a 1" throttle grip on the right and left.

I just replaced the EV ones with a set of foam ATV grips that stretched to 1". I suspect they will split easily because they are stretched tight.

The heater is an aluminum foil glued to the plastic tube. You can carefully cut and pull away the old rubber grip. If the foil is coming loose, tape it back in place with some thin tape. I then 'lube' the new grip with a lot of grip glue (hair spray) and slip it on. When the spray dries, you are good to go.

Awesome, Wayne.  Thanks so much!

I grabbed a set of the old style ones like they had on old British bikes at Corsa in London last time I was there. They fitted ok and the warmth from the heaters still comes through ok (ish). I like them 'cos they're larger diameter and therefore make the throttle action lighter, (which for me is a good thing).

Would Grip Puppies or the foam sleeves that slid over the grips work for you? That's what I have over the factory heated grips on my Breva 1100.

I just replaced mine. The Stelio kit is perfect. $120 gets you both grips with wires and connectors and hardware.

I replaced my 09 with pro-grips, did the same as OMG with buying 2 pair, but used air nozzle to install instead of lube. 8K since replaced and work great.
