Hi all,

I would appreciate everyones feedback please with your experience with different aftermarket exhausts for Breva 1200 2V. I understand the the same slip on would fit Norge 2V and also Sport 1200 2 V, so feedback form Norge and 1200 Sport riders would really help too.
Sound, ease of fitment, quality, need for FI tweaks and so on.
Any info much appreciated. I'm leaning towards Mistral Conical carbon fibre, but very open to suggestions and recommendations.
Want something with a deep note and rumble but not crazy loud.
Cheers
Don

I'll throw in my 2 cents even though I never put an aftermarket can on the Norge I had. I have however changed the exhaust on several Guzzi's that I have or have owned. Please note this is simply my personal observation regarding various options and I have no doubt others would not agree.

1. Mistral. They have sounded a bit tinney to me. If I were comparing to cars, more like a Thrush muffler than a Cherry Bomb. The Cherry Bomb mufflers have a deeper rumble without sounding tinney. I bought a Mistral for my Stelvio. It's hanging on the garage wall because of the reason stated above.

2. Staintune. Love them! They sound good and once the packing material, (stainless steel), gets carboned up a little, have a wonderful deep sound to them. I have had them on multiple bikes. With the SS packing material, they're pretty much good forever.

3. Agostinni. I put a set of these on my 1400 Eldorado. What sweet music. (Had Staintune made mufflers for the 1400, I would likely have gone that route, although I couldn't be happier with the Agos.)

4. If you could even find them, Guzzi made a racing exhaust for the 1200 Sport. I rode a bike so equipped. Sounded great, ran great. This kit may have included an ECU with it.

The Mistral's will be the value in terms of price point, although your price on Staintunes may be better than here in the states since they're made there, don't know.

I have a carbon Mistral on my 1200. I also have the dB killer in. Just too loud without it.  Sounds fine to me.

I would have to vote for the StainTune.   I had one on my 07 Norge and I've had them on other bikes as well.   Like John Henry said, they sound great and require no maintenance.   Also, they come with an insert that can easily be removed.    Usually, I leave the insert in if there's no pre-muffler or cat ahead of the muffler, or take it out if there is.

For me, it would be:

1) Staintune
2) Agostini
3) Mistral

Staintunes just sound really good on a big block Guzzi.  Plus, they're durable and last forever.

I went with a GPR Albus on my 2014 Norge.  The bike seems to really like it for driveability and from your description for desired sound, it would serve you well.  It came with 2 db busters and I used both.  Not too loud but it has a nice, deep sound.  They're made in a number of materials and colors.  I nervously ordered a white version but am now happy with the looks on my white Norge.  Moderate pricing but the quality is very good and the fit and installation was perfect.

Mistral on my old Breva 1100.  Run with the mistral crossover,  no DB killer.   Loved it.   We probably had that configuration for the last 40,000 miles.  We sold the B at 53,000 miles.

While I'd like to be able to recommend the Staintune slip on I'm afraid I can't. It is simply a generic 'Can' adapted to fit a Sport. I am of the opinion it sounds flat and boring as well.

The stock closed loop system will trim, (Poorly!) around virtually any pipe and at the upper end where the map runs open loop will be fairly Ho-Hum but because the map is so rich it's unlikely you'll damage anything.

Their pricing certainly causes less cardiac arrest than the Ago or Mistral...I wonder how they hold up appearance-wise over a few years...

It appears durable and is listed as ceramic...  I've only got about 2500 miles on it but don't see any color change or other signs of use.  I thought there might be things that would burn onto the white but that hasn't happened yet and it washes clean when cleaning up the bike.  Time will tell but there is a good sense of quality and in unpacking it, it was in a nice cloth logo'ed bag and the stainless hardware was in another nice bag.  I wasn't expecting it to present itself as a premium product but it actually did.  Their site shows quite a number of finish choices.  So far, I'm quite happy with it and it seems to be one of those pleasant surprises of getting more than expected.

I installed a Mistral carbon this year with a Beetle map and love the bike again!

It has a great sound and the response is unbelievable

What Pete says is probably a pretty accurate account of the sound. Mine's a Staintune specially built at 400mm versus 500mm for the usual offering. It's a styling thing, but I can't say it has the beautiful tonal "boom" of a Conti equipped Ducati or a dual can V11 Sport or similar, but still nice none the less. It's been on 6 years and 90,000 k with no issues and cleans up well. Mine is set up a bit like a VFR 750/800 Honda and looks ok IMO, but that's a matter of taste.

GPR systems are lightly built compared to the more expensive options. I would avoid if doing big miles.

I have the Mistral on my Norge, purchased it in 07 and have never had a problem with it. I think that it sounds good, so I have no complaints.
