Guzzi 254 Users Manual?
« on: July 25, 2016, 02:09:17 PM »
Hi...  I have searched all over trying to find a Moto Guzzi 254 users manual with no luck.  Does anyone have an idea where to find one?

Thanks much,

Gordon

What does 254 refer to?

Have you tried thisoldtractor.com?

I have a 1979 Moto Guzzi 254 231cc inline 4 cylinder bike.  Obviously, not a well known model.  That's why I'm having so jmuch trouble finding a users manual.  I will try thisoldtractor.com, but am not sure why they would have a manual for this bike?

Yeah.  They are very cool little bikes.  They sound like a 60's Honda RC161 4 cylinder.  They scream and wail at 12,000 rpm...  Nothing like my V50 Monza.

When DeTommasso (Sp?) took over a host of Italian brands in the seventies he planned to produce a whole new line of multi cylinder bikes to compete with the Japanese. Of a 'Modular' design similar to Bert Hopwood's designs for the failing British industry but with more plagiarism of actual Japanese engineering, particularly Honda, hey did come to fruition but he was overstretched.

The 254, 354,(?) and 750 Sei were all products of this time badged in several ways for different markets.

Both Guzzi and Benelli got the 250's and maybe the 350's. Only Benelli got the six cylinder motor. Strangely, in Singapore and maybe Malasia the 254 was sold badged as a MotoBi!

PS, there may also have been a 504? It was a lifetime ago.....

Yes, a 504, lovely to ride. Probably the nicest of them.
