Looks like $5k (at most) Eldo to me. No mention if the cylinders are the originals or not.

Okay.....at some point there is "nuts" that comes to mind.  Don't know if it's the seller or the prospective buyer at that price.  Gary's Ambassador at $7K less is in better shape and no tears in the seat. :thumb:  It is on the West side of the country.

Also no mention about whether it is original paint, whether there are any scratches &/or paint chips, etc.  On the other hand, more power to the seller for dreaming big, & there is probably somebody out there who has more money than common sense who will buy it, eventually.

It's pretty but that's not original paint. 5k would be in the ballpark.
On a related note Charlie,  I wonder when the tables will turn and the original paint loop with original Chrome cylinders will become the sought after prize? It's bound to happen.

Yes, definitely not original paint and chrome panels on the tank have been painted over.

I can't imagine why anyone (except a collector that never intends to ride the bike) would seek out any Guzzi with original chrome-plated bore cylinders.

Damn!!

Last month I finally threw out three pairs of original chrome bore cylinders that were collecting dust in the garage attic, and to think they could be rare collector items :thewife:

Waste not want not.  I hope you recycled them!
I may look at my eldo to see, I know the engine hasn't been apart for well over 30 years,  might still be chrome. It certainly has never been parked for long. I could be sitting on a gold mine!

No, but mainly because I'm not  in the market. As a dealer I  buy bikes for resale so I don't pay retail value.
Many folks ship there older Guzzi's to us for a rebuild or restoration back to new condition which can run nearly double the amount asked for the one in question.  There is not much known about this fellows bike from the description but apparently it is enough to bring out the self annointed real experts on the value of everyone else's Guzzi but their own. No matter what a person asks for a Guzzi it is always too much unless it is priced stupid cheap.  If Guzzi's are thought so little of  by the naysayers here why are they still here and not over on the HD sites????

Well, someone will buy it at that price.  Or, not.  Either way it's a beautiful machine so I hope who ever gets it appreciates it.

That'd be $30K ..... Sayyyy ... are you sure you aren't really named Moe?

Or does that mean that $35,000 for a nicely restored Loop is in the ballpark .... ?    I'm SO confused now ....

To correctly restore and return any vehicle to showroom new, it takes what ever is necessary in order to accomplish a quality finished product. Yes it can run $25-30,000 depending the parts and amount of work required.
If anyone claims he can fully restore any motorcycle for any amount other than  time and materials you better not deal with that person   because he will either over charge an inflated price or he will cut corners
and not do what he promised to.

To answer old bikes questions,  I am not expressing any claim to what this bike is worth. I would say that it is a premium price for an unrestored bike. Bear in mind that it's quite obvious that it is a nice looking Eldo but there are several things there that show the bike is not in new showroom condition.

15,000 may be a stretch but I think that is much closers to reality than $5,000 which insults the bike

Actually I agree , although maybe something closer to 8K seems realistic if the guy wants to sell it .

I agree. This is a very nice looking bike and it should fetch such a price. It''s time for Guzzi to appreciate in value. It has started to happen.
I sold my T3 last year for $15000 which down in the uSA was only apparently worth about 3K.
Time you guys started to appreciate what you have. I shouldn't say this because I would like to pick up another very cheap bike from your country some time.
Has anyone got a very nice T3 for $3000 or so? If so we want it in Oz please. Send me a PM and I'll make arrangements.

Have another look at the ad Charlie. There's no mention of chrome cylinders. It's a very nice looking bike. I don't understand why you all want to bag it out. Your bikes are worth much more. Celebrate it.

My OPINION stands. If you don't agree, that's fine. I've never called myself an "expert" - self-appointed or otherwise. $5k maybe $7k to the "right" buyer, but $15k seems more than a little optimistic. Maybe an original paint "police" model would reach that price, but a "plain jane" civilian 2LS drum brake Eldo? Doubtful. Again, just my opinion

Since there's no mention in the ad of the cylinders ever having been replaced and it has low miles for the age, it's very likely the chrome bores are already beginning to flake. Chances are the flakes have circulated through the engine and now the crank, bearings and oil pump have been damaged. If so, an engine rebuild is needed. Factor that into the asking price. If it has had the cylinders replaced/replated/sleeved at some point, then it would value higher, but still not $15k in my opinion.
