I have been searching the internet for info on the operation of the Sachs (twin rear) shock rebound adjuster (as fitted to some California models, maybe others, I don't know) and have come up with nothing. Can anyone explain how the collar at the top of the shock has any effect "Hydraulically" on rebound dampening ("braking") as Guzzi states in this bit snipped from the owner's manual?
This collar seems to be a threaded friction ring that bears down on--something--when turned clockwise (not counter clockwise as stated) and loosens as it backs off. FWIW, there are about 47 "clicks" between "too-hard-to-tighten anymore" and when the clicking stops and the collar just starts to spin off its threads.
There are no diagrams of this device to be had, but I am hoping someone knows how it works.
