So, you end up with a MarkIII with tons of parts, alternator, transmission, rear drive, wheels, etc. for probably 1 large. Probably a good deal.

Mine came together pretty much the same way...by combining bits and pieces from here and there. So none of the "reds" match...which is why I call it "Tomato Surprise!"

Someone should grab it/them...they're wonderful to ride!

Looks good for the knowledgable V50 enthusiast!    I suspect that the rings on the red one are the least of the engine's problems if it were run low on oil, but a teardown will tell ....

Dusty called me the other day, and said, "What's the deal with the Mark IIIs?" I told him that the V50 engine is a sweetheart. It is smooth, and just *sings* for want of a better description. Powerful? Not really, but you have to remember it's still a 500, and that was a bigger bike back in the day. 9K redline. (!) One of my favorite Guzzi powerplants. Plenty of power for 2 up. The Mark III is basically a Monza in sheep's clothing. Less of a dedicated riding position.
There are a few niggles with them. Needs a rear drive mod. Actually, 2 of them. Needs a transmission breather mod. Needs a Dyna S instead of the constantly having to be adjusted points. Needs a fork brace. They are available for a hunnerd bux or so.
Once sorted, they are just a fun little bike to ride. Handle better than you would think. The electrics are typical 80s Guzzi and easy to sort. I'd have been all over these if I was still looking for a small block.
