Safety wire and lug bolts

So having removed the rear wheel from the Norge the lug bolts are drilled for wire.  There was no wire on them when I took the wheel off.  As I think about it these are a covered up never checked single point of failure item that could hurt a guy badly.  I am thinking I will wire them just because it can't hurt and just maybe might help. 
What do you guys think?  Do any of you wire safety items like this?

Unless you run in a sanctioned event that requires it ,probably not necessary except for peace of mind. I don't believe those were drilled from the factory. Proper torque is your friend

Lock wire is a backup to correct torque, and as a last line of defence.
As in your case it will not take a lot of effort or time and will give you peace of mind, go for it.
Post photos of the finished result so all the ex and current aircraft mechanics can "critique"
