That is the first report I have  read about the inflatable vest in an actual accident, not a test.
  Very impressive.

Good for him.  I see he was also wearing 'Stitch Combat Lite boots, because they "stay on" in an accident.

Plus, someone who pulls out in front of a Can-Am is just not looking.

Essential to the pursuit of happiness is knowing when you've caught it.
Life's what happens while you're making other plans.
I always knew I'd get old.  How fast it happened was a bit of a surprise, though.

Lot of that going on ... people pull out in front of huge yellow school buses.   I don't think it's a matter of "looking", it's a matter of not processing what you see because you're doing something else instead of driving ....

I haven't been wearing my Combat Touring boots because I lost a ratchet strap from one, and although Aerostich advertises a replacement strap that has to be drilled, ground, and cobbled onto the boot, they don't have any of those either.    They say they have original style straps for the "newer" boots, but I don't know what "newer" means.

I need to call, I suppose, and find out what they do have.   They put a lot of money into that catalogue but sometimes it's no help ....

Just looked at the Helite website and didn't see anything "hideously" expensive (but I guess that depends on your economic situation). The vests looked to cost about $650 and the black leather jacket with airbag about $1000.

An ambulance ride costs more than that.

Some fantastic tech here.

Also check into Sidi; they could very well be the same straps. Do they look like this?

This accident happened 7 miles from my house. It's a bad intersection ,many accidents every year, the majority are drivers entering hiway 29 from the east.  Hiway 29 is a major north south route and county Rd 5 is major east west road through this area. The intersection has a very busy convince store gas station and bait shop/ tavern  on the North east corner all of which obstructs the vision if your coming from the east on the county road turning on to hiway 29 and the south vision is semi blocked by trees.  The speed limit posted here is 55, but the traffic speed tends to be closer to 65-70 on the hiway. The locals tend to do hollywood stops there and aren't prepared for the approaching traffic speed.

Nice vest though, thinking it's an investment I and wife will make soon. Only needs to work once to pay for itself.

An ambulance ride costs more than that.

Last year my brother's airlift from Historic 66 to Las Vegas Trauma was $55,000.

Just got around to pulling the one good strap from the boot ... to compare to the picture you sent. (Thanks!)

They look similar to that BUT Sidi changed the design about 5 years ago, and they say that the original strap isn't available any more .... I'll keep looking, maybe someone will sell me the strap off their worn-out boot ....
