V7III tool question

this one is sort of different.  My 2017 V7 III Special is in my PA home.  in a couple weeks I fly to PA from Florida, load bike into my trailer, load Pickup camper on my truck, hook up bike trailer and take a several week vacation down through the Outerbanks of NC, ending up at my Florida home.  We use the bike for local transportation to restaurants, grocery stores, etc on our trips.

Long story short, I have a Givi rack in PA already ready to install when I get there so I can mount my (already owned) case on Guzzi for this trip (makes shopping a little easier) 

according to GIVI I need a 5 and  6mm allen wrench and a 13mm wrench, but I also need to disconnect the top shock bolt. I can't remember if the top shock mount is a stud (which means I probably need to slide the shock off bottom mount at same time), or is the top mount just a bolt. (I know, I need to support the weight of bike).
What is the wrench/allen key size for this top mount?

Since I am flying to PA I can't take all my tools with me, I just want enough to do the job.

The top mount requires a 5mm (head) allen. If you had a OEM rack on your Special, you will also need to replace the stock fastener with a shorter one (with a 16 mm threaded section).  I don't think you need to undo the bottom of the shock, but I can't remember with certainty. You will also need a fender washer to go under the allen. Unfortunately Givi does not tell you that or supply washers. The fancy ones Guzzi uses are ridiculously expensive, but look good.

The top shock bolt is a 6mm M6 x 1 x 35mm long bolt threaded into the frame. You can take the bolt right out it's not supporting any weight. a 5mm Allen key for that.

The bolt at the rear of grab bar (out of sight under seat) is M8 x 1.25 x 35 long you will need a 6mm Allen key for that with a 13mm ring spanner not open end wrench to hold the nut, be careful not to drop the fender spacer from the inside or you will crush the fender when you tighten it back up.

I don't have a Givi rack but I use 40 mm long bolts in both places to take up the extra space with my home built rack.

BTW mine is a Special also.

The bike doesn't come with much of a tool kit
4, 5 & 8mm Allen wrench

No 6mm Allen wrench
No 7mm Allen wrench (brake callipers)
I added 8, 10, 13, 14, 17 mm ring spanners and a 24mm wrench for the rear axel, cut any long wrenches shorter to fit the tool pouch.

Do the IIIs also have the same front axle as the earlier models? 14mm socket. Not perhaps needed just now, but will be when the front tyre (or tube) needs to be changed. The V7C tool kit came with a 2 inch length of 14mm hex bar to fit, but this was dropped from later tool kits. So keep your eye out for an old 14mm Allen key, & lop a couple of inches off it for the tool kit. For 'Ron.

thanks everyone, I have a ton of tools, I just want to take only what I need on the airplane so I can mount this rack.

also thanks for the notice on the shock bolt:   I looked the factory parts on the guzzi parts book online.

Stone (no rack)
Shock Bolt, #6 2b002195 pre-coated IX m6x35 shc screw
Washer, #3 BUSH on both TOP- and BOTTOM bolts.

Special (with rack)
shock Bolt, #6 2b002195 pre-coated IX m6x35 shc screw
Washer, #3 b063174 BUSH on bottom ONLY (factory rack must substitute for #3 on top).

Washers (bush) may be easier to come by, at least enough to get my rack installed for the vacation. 
This rack will make trips to grocery store (and adult beverage store) easier with my E45 case on back

Job is done, but we missed one.  The passenger pegs are held on with torx fasteners.  Something like #35 or #40?  Had to go buy a cheep set of sockets to get them off.
but replaced them with allen head screws supplied by rack.

also the top bolts on shock need to be shorter after you take off the chrome rack, something like 35mm long?  not sure but I had some takeoffs from my Beta 300RR that fit perfect.  oh, plus 2 fender washers for same said bolts I had laying around.
