Further to a previous post, I have had the swing arm out of the Norge to renew and pack the races. As Pete correctly points out, there is a seal in each side to prevent water entering the races. I see that the seals are not a very tight fit in their registers and what stops the one on the right side from being dislodged when you re fit the pin ? I made a small aluminium spencer to stabilise the seal in their respective housings each side since I was not able to be sure that the seal isn't disturbed as the pin is pushed through. The void between the seal and the race is 0.370" so that's what I made the spacer, minus a few thou' to allow for the adjustment of the tapered roller. Could the dislodging of the seal be a contributor to the races being dry and rusty ? Huzo
