swap meets, flea markets and yard sales
« on: October 02, 2016, 09:12:43 AM »
I love 'em!

I went to two flea markets on Saturday, one in my town the other a few miles away. Spent about 20 Euros on stuff I don't need so all is well and good☺

And, I did a nice turn. An older guy had his stuff setting on a table to sell and i casually glanced over it like every other one. I noticed some silver coins so I took a look. Maybe 7 coins in all, 6 large ones and one smaller than the others.

The large ones said UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and had the image of Miss Liberty but no dates or values so i chalked them up to being play money. The smaller one was different. It was a 1971 Eisenhowser silver dollar. I asked the man how much and he said 5 euros.

Now the good part. I said to him (in German ) My good man, let me show you something. This is a real coin. It is real money. And, it is pure silver. Now a lot of people are looking and listening. The other coins are play money but this coin is special. I put the coin in his hand and told him, Save it, don't sell it.

He asked if I was an American and I told him Yes. Then he said Vielen Dank (many thanks) and went back to show his wife the coin.

I thought I had done good. 😊

Tom, Good on you. Looks like it is worth anywhere from $10-$250 bucks.

Well, that would certainly suck for me if I passed on $250 coin for only 5 bucks!

But I already have a few of them. And remember, no good deed goes unpunished😀

Cool music!

The 1971 Eisenhower dollars minted in San Francisco are 40% silver.

From the Deep Deep South out in left field.  There are no stupid questions.  There are however stupid people asking questions.  🤣, this includes me.  😉 Hawaii.
