Gas mileage on my 07 Calvin

I just finished a tank of gas in my recently obtained 2007 Calvin. It got 45 miles a gallon. Is this a fairly normal average that I can expect to be consistent. Also this was easy ridding not in town or on the slab, just around the countryside on 3 or four evening rides

 Define "normal"  Yes , seems to be in the range of normal .

My 2009 will see 50 now & then but mostly 45 to 48. H&H fairing seems to lessen wind drag even though it's like pushing a barn door.

With the original fuel map, I averaged 47. With the updated Guzzi map, it went down to 42...

Thanks for the replays. Sounds like mine is about what you guys are reporting. I was a little surprised I would get that good. On a road trip I could get as much as 50 mpg. I realize gas mileage is the least of our concerns but I just like to see good mileage as I am an older guy and we like to think we are getting the most bang for our buck;)

No.  This is absolutely not normal and you need to have it checked out.   
The best I ever got with any of the four 1100 Calis I had was around 40 on the highway and generally ran about 34-36 in town.

I've put a little over 20K miles on my 2010 CALVIN over the last 2 years and with the exception of some high speed (75-80) runs, I've averaged 50MPG. High 40's during the high speeds. My engine is all stock.

Sheepdog, I'm thinking about a GUZZITECH re-flash, is that what you have? BTW, I've followed your advice on other mods, accessories, etc. that you've done to yours, and all have worked well. Thanks.

If the low fuel light isn't coming on at 125 miles, you just aren't having enough fun.

KBUCK: I have not done the re-flash, but will probably either try it myself (using the GuzziDiag guidance from this forum) or I'll send it to GuzziTech and have Todd do it. The newest factory map is pretty good and low speed fueling is better, but I still experience some pinging and popping on deceleration...

I'm glad you've had good luck modifying your Vintage. I'd love to see a photo...

Damn, my fuel light and trip odometer are both broken, so I just try to fuel up every 100 mile. Consistently 2.5-2.7 US gallons. I would  like to learn guzzidiag soon, but the thing just runs too damn good.

I get about 50mpg on my Cal Vin. I stripped most of the excess weight off of mine and I only weigh about 150lbs. So as they say, your mileage may vary.

Mine runs so smooth through the whole power band now that I flashed to a modified ECU map with guzzidiag.

Ant, I have an upgraded ECU but have been holding off activating it until I have out a few hundred miles on the Calvin first. As it is now I am having no issue, that I can tell are issues, as if yet. Every now and then I get a mild caugh when accelerating from a lower than usual rpm but then she climes rpm's without flaw. The motor apparently runs cool as the header pipes are Crome with no discoloration at all. What do y'all think?

you don't say where you live.. elevation can have an effect.. I got like 58mpg crossing the divide in Co.

If it is running good and you are happy with it, why change anything? I wasn't happy with mine and it was not good at lower RPMs at all, but I am now.
On the other hand, if you back up the map you have now and flash a new map and if it is not an improvement, flash it back to the original map. The flashing only takes a couple of minutes. The backing up takes longer, about 15 minutes if I remember correctly.

Foto, I'm at 1000 ft and my ridding range goes from around 500'ft to as high as 6000 ft in our mountains in NC.
Antman, that's good advice and I think I can do that eventually. I have a map upgrade that a member here sent me and I will have to order the connectors and I'm sure that you could probably walk my wife through the technical aspects. Thanks for the advise guys!
