Question for the loop guys?

OK so I'm having to replace the internals of the gearbox on this 750S due to the original box being a filigree of rust. I have this set of internals from an Eldo box but it has the earlier thrust washer rather than the needle roller on the end of the cluster shaft.

Now this bike is unlikely to ever be used in real anger but are the earlier thrust washer equipped boxes noticeably less reliable than the needle roller equipped ones or am I safe to use it? any other issues I should check?

My '72 V7Sport came with a gearbox like that. Discovered this many years ago when I had it apart to replace the return spring and decided to look at everything else while I was at it. It's the original 'box and has now done about 160,000 miles.

Run it. I've never heard of any issues, but then I'm more of a four-speed guy.

The little balls work fine as long as you have oil back there.

I have never seen a failure.

I've only had return spring problems but never had a gear box rusted up.  Always had lube in them.

Are you switching to the Eldo shift drum as well?

Thanks guys. I was pretty sure it wouldn't be likely to be an issue but always best to ask those with more experience.

No, I'm not using the Eldo shift drum.
