LeMans IV rear shock mount question.

Hello folks, my son gave me a pair of progressive suspension 970 remote reservoir shocks, which are 12.5" eye to eye. (These are take offs from a Harley Dyna he sold)I believe the  oem shocks on my le mans are 13.5" eye to eye. I installed the 12.5s and they are deffinitely too short,on the LM, but if I were to mount them in the  other lower,  hole in the tonti frame, the length would be just about right. Is this possible? Or is this hole for something else, and not meant for mounting a shock?  Has anyone mounted shorter shocks in this more "layed down" mounting position, or am I just looking for trouble?

I think you are looking for `big` trouble Rick.  It would be best to get a shock the correct length of 13.25 "  or close to that.  Hagon will build you a set from $200 and up, and set it up for your weight and riding style, I`m not plugging Hagon,  there are many other choices out there.

As Bill, said, big trouble. That lower hole is not boxed in to take the stress of a shock mount, like the original upper mount is.
+1 on the Hagons.

Mark, and 5154 Guzzi, you guys just confirmed what I suspected, I already removed them, and reinstalled the stock Konis, which still have good damping. I just thought  It would be nice to find some use for those $1200. shocks! ( and they did look badass)  Thank you,

Do you have a corresponding hole on the left side.  If not then more than likely it's for the handle to lift the bike onto the c-stand.  I'll look at mine after I get home today.
