Yeah......that's too bad. I always liked some of his unique engineering/design work. I wanted to try a Buell many times bover the years but it never happened. When he went down with Harley I decided I had to try one, so I bought the 2009 1125CR with 140hp Rotax. Its a very nice bike and very unique to look at.

Sad, I was hoping something might become of EBR. My experience with an EBR 1190 was it was cheaply constructed and lacked anything that would make someone consider buying one. Obviously so did the buying public.

Unfortunately, 'Buell' is becoming the modern equivalent of 'Henderson-Excelsior'...

Excelsior Henderson..

They also bilked the MN tax payer to the tune of millions..
From 1997 to 1998, the company constructed a factory in Belle Plaine, Minnesota. The factory was equipped for a capacity of 10,000 motorcycles per year, and, with a few minor assembly and finishing line changes, would have had a capacity of 20,000. This factory has since been converted to the headquarters of Cambria, a company specializing in quartz surfaces.

Erik just stopped at my work and bought a Mandolin from us Sunday before the Packer game. I didn't realize it was him at the time (until we got his name for the warranty). He was a super nice guy, and I wish him the best!
When I told a co-worker about this, he said "I wonder if he'll try to make it play faster".

At some point, someone has to sell something. That EBR seems mostly to sell its factory equipment should make potential future investors wary.

This attempt was by the guy who bought all the EBR stuff to make another go at it a few years ago.  :lipsrsealed:   The demand for fast bikes isn't what it used to be.

I owned a 2000 Buell M2 cyclone (in Reactor Yellow) bought brand new, for ten years. It was a simple, well made basic open class motorcycle. It was a street motorcycle, not competitive on the track, and I could have cared less. The Sportster motor was tuned maybe a little more aggressively than it should ideally have been, so it was a little snatchy at lower rpm's, but glass smooth in it's sweet spot. At $8000, it was also a bargain. All in all, I'm sorry that I sold it -- I don't think we'll see anything like it again.

I also think that when Eric tried his comeback after Harley screwed him, it shouldn't have been EBR; competing head to head with Ducati, Aprillia and the big four from Japan never had a chance. An updated Cyclone, though, might have been a new beginning. We'll never know.

Even though "everyone" thought the Harley engine was the weak point, it was what made the Buells cool.

I'd have bought the Firebolt if the details weren't so odd.

My Uly was awesome it had every bit as much character as a Guzzi..and more horsepower. I hope to stumble into a deal I can't refuse on an XB9s  someday..

Erki Buell should write a book on all his experiences so far...as it would be an interesting read from his perspective...

Here are a few BUELL's from the MECUM auction this weekend.
