MV Agusta Carbon test....

So, I took my MV Agusta 800 Dragster RR out for a ride today after I did some "Enhancements" with carbon fiber bits from 'Moto Composites" of Canada to see if it was the "Look" I was trying to achieve. The bike can easily be taken back to OEM in a snap but the CF is also a nice look? If it's over-done, then a return to OEM it is. No problem.

Take it off, it`s not a race bike. Looks like trying to be play (gay) racer. CF is the equivalent of chrome on a Harley when it has no use other than show.

BTW, your F4 and R1 are similar but do you find the R1 to be more "Manageable" than the F4?

It doesn't have an extended swing-arm like a drag bike.  I assume it's a canyon craving roadster?  Looks faster the heck.

Yes, spokes are OEM, (*They are rumored to add 20 pounds vs the non-RR Dragster?)

No, the pix just makes the swing-arm look extended. It is actually a short wheelbase bike.

Sweet. I think all the carbon is cool. I say go big or go home. You went big and it looks great. I would be tempted to black out the silver brackets, pegs, and sidestand.

I saw one of those in a showroom recently and it was the first new bike in a while that made me stop and stare.

More manageable is probably a good word to use and I would say it is. In the hands of a professional road racer the R1 would be seriously left behind though. At club level the differences would be negligible.

Hey, it's your bike. If *you* like the carbon fiber.. go for it. Life is way too short to be concerned about what someone else thinks.  (Guzzi guy content)
My only concern is who is going to keep it running. The Kid had the hots for a dragster, so I dutifully  went and looked at it with him. Uh, yeah.. it looks really good.. and fits. As nearly as I can tell, though.. there are "no user serviceable parts.."  I said, "Do you suppose that pimply faced kid that cross threads your spark plugs can troubleshoot it?" He thought about that for a couple of seconds, and said, "Let's go.."

Yup ........... those are pretty. I have never owned or ridden one but have heard a few leaving the local shop...... F-1 comes to mind.

PS.   I'm ok with carbon on that one.   

Oh and I miss Cali for the riding in winter  cant wait to saddle up and make the canyon carving pilgrimage again.

Looks nice.  I especially like the white wheels as on my S2R.  They're great when they're clean. . . but look like a tired streetwalker when they're anything but. 

Turn signals?? . . that's a cover for the mounting location, or they're integrated into that block-off cover??

I am a fan of white or silver wheels, black ones look like you are riding on two undefined black holes. As far as keeping clean, it`s rare to see a dirty Ducati and I have never seen a dirty MV.

Why? They don`t have any more service issues than a Moto Guzzi. Certainly having the clutch serviced by the dealer isn`t a $1000 Guzzi affair nor a whole weekend swearing if you do it yourself. Valve adjust is the same as any Jap 4 cylinder, this is were Guzzi has everyone beat.

*Everything* on that bike is computer controlled. The mechanical stuff? No big deal, really. Italian electronics? Not for me. YMMV, of course.

Yes, when the electronics communicate all is well; a glitch and you're hunting. There was a local guy with a new MV that went for start-up and it didn't. Stuck. It can happen to any electronics bike today no doubt. I am stuck in the 80's for a reason.

Dunno about "gay" but ya' gotta admit, it does have a cute ass !!! Just indulge yourself Sky, and stuff the rest. Think of the years you sweated over CAR's and such, it's a lotta work to slide into that left seat, bet it seems like a mile between the two, at the sharp end the first time you add take off thrust "for real" and YOU are in command... Go your hardest mate and don't dip your toe in the water to see what people think, oh and BTW,  if you want people to think your MV is hot, don't put your girl near it in photo's, the bike might look a little "bridesmaidish"...

The more I think about, asking a bunch of old Guzzi guys if something looks good, is the last group of motorcycle guys who should be asked their opinion on that.  Their sense of style not very well developed. Now if you want advice on being cheap and the most efficient way to count pennies they rate #1
