Hard chroming fork tubes
« on: February 11, 2017, 11:05:57 PM »
Anyone ever had fork tubes replated?   There are a couple places in the U.K. which do it, but I don't see any here.  No luck so far finding new tubes for the WP forks in my Centauro.

These guys;   http://www.unitedsurfacefinishing.com/extended-services

Have had a couple sets done by them, $150-$200 per tube depending on size. Really good quality work and quick turnaround.

Try searching "hard chrome plating services".  There seem to be many.

Most of the big places aren't interested in small jobs like a pair of fork tubes.  I'm thinking there must be a place where the rebuilders like Racetech send their stuff.

Maybe check with "Forking by Frank"? http://franksforks.com/ Maybe they can do it or refer you to someone who can.

look for a place that rebuilds hydraulic cylinders, they rechrome the rods on those.
they can tell you where to go
rechroming is highly recommended as far as i am concerned, i bought new stanchions for a v7sport , returned them because the chrome was awful
the pair i got as replacement was even worse, turned out all the big guzzi specialistst over here were selling the same ones
so i ended up having the old ones rechromed.
the result is way better than any chrome that came from italy...
