Bike has a center stand and approx. 12,000 miles. Fixed immediate problem with a 15" trucker bungee strap. Do these springs get weak over time? I've never had this problem on a bike. What have others done to solve this very dangerous problem? Has Guzzi recognized this?

I don't know about your bike, but I think many bikes have two springs on their side stands. Maybe one of yours has gone missing.

As the previous post pointed out, there are two springs, one inside the other.  Also, several previous reports indicate that if the pivot is sticky (needs lubrication or has crud impeding its motion), it will kinda ratchet downward as the bike goes over bumps in the road.  It's never happened to me over 25,000 mi and two V7's, but I try to keep my pivot moving freely.

It's a known problem. Has been treated here previously & on the MG750 yahoo site. Keep the lube up to the pivot joint - once it stand starts to be a little harder to push down, it's time for more lube. Eventually the pivot bolt is grooved, and the holes in its bracket go oval, then it's time for a bush.

One of the two springs on my '14 Special came unhooked during the "Epic" ride with Kev M. back in August.

Much to my surprise and confusing, the side stand switch did it's job.

The stock springs are garbage, I had the same problem as you with the sidestand slowly drifting down as I rode, usually just scraped the sidestand when I cornered but once almost lost control when the bike shut itself off because of the lowered sidestand, cleaning and re-lubing the pivot did nothing to fix the problem. Replace the skinnier inner spring with this stronger spring.

He he, I'd forgotten about that, but it was a simple case of the spring popping off ... and easily fixed.

Same issue here. On our last trip, I needed to bungie the sidestand up. At city-speeds... no issues. At highway speeds? I could watch it drop.

Lubing the pivot made it worse, for me. Prior to lubing it, it was happening twice a day...maybe. After? it was literally constant... I could watch it creep down as I rode.
Old enough to say I've done it, young enough to do it again.

If both springs are attached and it is still falling down, I'd say you might need some stronger springs, or at least to replace one of them with a stronger spring.

Major bump here!

Before I go ahead and order that Moose exhaust spring to replace the inner kickstand spring on my V7C, I just wanted to see if anything has developed on this front with you guys in the past several months. I still have a sexy bungee cord holding my kickstand up :P Has anyone been able to confirm if this particular part does the trick? Any new stories on falling kickstands and engines suddenly cutting out? *tap tap* Is this thing on? Just checking :P

Thanks for any input, guys.

Would you happen to have the part number for the Moto Guzzi bungee cord?
