I recently came across this toe-tapping tune played on a " l'orgue de barbarie " and said to myself, "now there is the proper music to adjust tappets".  Gotta share it!

Man!  I used to use a pushcart like the one the Barbarie is on at Construction Sites --long ago.

So as long as we're going old school I have two more.

and I thought I had it bad when I had to program punch card computers.

Thanks Penderic

That was worth watching Penderic, thanks.  A couple of us in the family are into music and engineering enough to really enjoy seeing that.

Wow!

1. Great music

2. Who would have ever thought of inventing such a thing?

3. The guy playing it was breaking a serious sweat by the end.  He was pretty busy ...

It's only fair, Michael was probably pretty sweaty after he performed it too, but he jumped around a lot instead of turning a crank.

The marble machine reminds me of my favorite steampunk creation: The Linotype (1888).  I learned to use one in 1965. Here's an Italian film (in English translation) that'll tell you far more than you need to know about this wonderful device:

Loved it!  Thanks.

I'll return the favor with automated music (though not 'valve adjustment' music) from a machine at the DeBence Museum in Franklin, PA.  I'd suggest anyone riding from NE Ohio into Franklin, PA stop off here.

Outstonishing!
Unmitigated risk aversion is the new Puritanism; complete with witch hunts funny outfits and humorless preachers thundering doom. The Deity is Safety; Satan is a Lawyer; but the object is the same: to suck the life out of life and tell you how to live it.

For those of us lucky enough to have single-cylinder Guzzi, this is music to adjust valves by:
