Here is what I'm having the dealer do:
Replace tappets with rollers
Complete service (all fluids changed, systems checked, nuts/bolts tightened, etc)
Sump drop and clean out
Suspension linkage lube
Swingarm bearing lube
When I get down there, I'll check condition of tires. (it's basically been sitting since 2012 and tires made in 2011), and perhaps get suspension adjusted.
Just posted thread about spark plug failure issue. I want to fix everything on it that will break me down on trip from LA to SF before I start.
Thanks everyone for input. Anything I've forgotten?
Not knowing the reputation of your dealer I'm reluctant to say anything negative, but get them to do as much as you can then re check what you can yourself. You'll learn a lot if you consult the right person on this forum and you WILL have fun. I do every single fluid at each 20,000 k and engine, gearbox and final drive every 10,000 k. Good fun just doing things like taking off levers for cleaning/ lubricating and such make sure you do the side stand pivot. You just learn so much about your bike, and don't forget startups interruptus, there's a lot of info on that topic here. Have fun !!
