Benelli 750 Sei, suddenly common?
« on: March 01, 2018, 05:40:41 PM »
These don't come up for sale often but now there are a couple on Ebay, silly money IMHO, worth watching to see is they sell

Starting at $19K reserve not met and no bids

And this claimed to be zero mile bike with a buy it now of $24K, for a new bike it has some scrapes and marks, if it is really a zero mile bike the transmission recall was probably not done.

Makes me wish I would have bought a complete project one a couple years ago for $5K given the asking price of these ones :thewife:

I know the consensus is that they weren't spectacular bikes, not very fast, but the six pipes are so cool!

<snip> but the six pipes are so cool!

And, boy they sure sound awesome from behind. No you tube video can really do them justice. A friend of mine was able to source the parts to fix the transmission, but it took him some time to do it.

Next year I have to get to Mecum, if nothing else to just see in person bikes like this, and I keep promising my wife I will sell one or two bikes (and probably buy one or two bikes).

The ran >1,700 vintage / classic / modern / collectible / rare motorcycles across the block in Jan.  We went for 3-days for the first time this year, and it's too much...BONHAM's (IMHO) at the Rio on Thursday is a bust now...and MECUM has taken over.  Two nights in Vegas (Fri. & Sat.) is plenty and that's what we will do again next year! :thumb:

Maybe Benelli should try again and just get 2 500 Four Hondas together and have an 8 cylinder 1000!
What did we end up saying about the topic of them being a 500 with a cylinder grafted onto either end ?
The peak power for the Sei is 1 1/2 times that of the Honda 500.
Just a rip...

i had the chance of riding a 900sei, that proved to be a very nice bike.
and i usually dont like multi cylinder bikes ....

This one is more my style, too bad it's across the pond, a project in need of a home, attracting a lot of attention and reserve not met yet.

Years back a friend of mine picked up one of these , had to have a six was star struck ..six months later the transmission locked up  , fixed on warranty later the valve guides  went south , then carb tuning was a real pain he grew to hate the bike sold it for half of what he paid  ...and never looked back all in all it was the biggest piece of crap you could imagine and a money pit.
maybe a bad investment , i dunno but thought to share his experience with this model and then again maybe he just got a lemon .

The 750 Sei transmission engagement dogs where too weak and were not really fixed until the 900 Sei came out. There were various recalls for the transmission and apparently the repair was just adequate. De Tomaso wanted a flagship bike but Benelli lacked the resources to fully develop the engineering, one thing to copy a Honda four, another to add a couple cylinders and match a transmission to handle it.

By no means equal to the CBX but a milestone biken its own right,
