2016 Stelvio random misfire
« on: April 15, 2017, 08:55:55 PM »
Help. pulling what little hair I have left out.
Random misfire at idle and sometimes just off idle. 25000 km on the bike and it has had this issue since new. Dealer installed new plugs and caps at 8000km. That seemed to sure the problem for a while. But it comes and goes. So this spring I decided to hunt this problem down.
Heres whats been done so far this month. After its oil and filer, valve adjust, TB sync and TPS reset, New plugs and wires caps .
Random missfire still persists. seems worse once it has warmed up. Bike has good smooth power and is otherwise great.

Any ideas

SB05E or F caps by NGK are the alternative, David also worked out you can get closer fitting grommets for the ends of them if you buy another set of a different sort of cap but I've not bothered.

Doesn't sound like caps or leads though if they've been replaced.

The stock map can be a bit snatchy down low, especially if the throttle cables have a lot of slack.

Try puting a strobe on the leads and see if you can identify if it really isn't sparking or simply not combusting.
