Norge Discontinued???
« on: April 14, 2017, 06:49:52 PM »
I just visited my closest MG dealer, in Arlington, VA, & 2 people there told me that the Norge has been (or will soon be) discontinued, although unsold 2016s are still available.  Has anyone else heard this?  I don't see anything about it on the web & the factory web site is still pushing 2017s.  Another "fake news" episode?

No more current gen CARC bikes are being produced...time will tell if they decide to replace it or update it to Euro 4

One of the fellows who was here with the Goose truck for AZ Bike Week said the 1100s are all disco'd on accounta emissions non-compliance, and it'll be a year or maybe a bit more before they have a replacement out.  Thus, I did not get to ride a Norge _or_ a Stelvio.  The El Dorado was a nice ride, though.

Aha, mystery solved.  May work out well for me, since in around a year or so I'll be shopping for a lighter touring bike replacement for my Harley - either it is getting heavier or I'm getting older & weaker.  Guess which explanation I prefer to believe....  I love the way the El Dorado looks, but it's way too heavy to be a solution for me, especially with bags, top case, etc., which I might be able to forego, but my better half & family accountant insists on lots of luggage capacity.

Bad news but I guess sport touring is almost dead anyway.  BMW is hanging in there but their bikes are 30k.

Collectable Norge?  Ha ha

Along the same lines, I went to my local Triumph dealer to check out the Trophy as an alternative to the Norge, & the owner said they aren't selling at all so he doesn't carry them any more (but can still order one) - he suspects that they will be history in the next couple of years, too, since the factory isn't pressuring dealers to keep them in inventory anymore.  Triumph's dual sports bikes with the same motor are still selling well, according to him.
