96 California Intake manifold Hose

2nd owner of this bike. Did the 1996 come with adjustable air shocks? If so the current shocks are not air adjusted. Did this line charge them? As best as I can tell they run from here on both sides of engine to a T then split again after going under the battery area going up to an air canister on each side by the top of the shock mounts.
It's time to replace this hose. Do I need to replace as it is, run a short length and plug them up or should I connect the two intakes together with one hose?

That is your pollution control, disconnect canisters & run a hose between the manifolds. Bitubo was factory shock.

Does the computer "talk" or take readings or make adjustments from the pollution control?

No, EVAP system is stand alone, NO ECU interaction. EVAP Canisters and hoses can all be removed, plug up spouts on manifolds with vacuum plugs

Or if the hoses need replacing you could do that.

There is a tank vent tipover valve that comes out on top, run that down under motor to outside air. There is a gas cap drain under the tank, that should go to same area. All the rest of hoses & canisters can be yanked.
I run a hose between the manifolds cause it's easier to sync throttles, spigot is there to hook up carb sticks.

Be careful with the nipples out of the intake manifold, they will break if subjected to a crude mechanic, don't ask how I found that out! If they do break just get some tips for a mig welder, probly a small Miller. They are metric and screw right in .

And the EVAP sytem is now gone. I connected the two intake ports to each other. Conenecting them is probably more of a benefit for carbureted systems? Bike runs the same as before, witch is awesome.
Thanks guys!

If it runs the same as before, why did you remove it?

The hoses where starting to crack. Headed to Colorado in 4 weeks just some preventive maintenance. Left three years ago with questionable oil feed lines and sure enough day two the right one started leaking pretty bad. Bad enough to leave a puddle. Stoped atvWall SD outside the Harley "store". Sent my son exploring and I went to work. Got the old lines off went in the Harley store only to find out...no shop "we only sell t-shits and coffee cups". Walked to the local car guy and he replaced the lines. The story is better in person but trying to avoid another similar story.
