i've never really paid attention to what pollens - from which sources - affect me the most. i stepped outside today and WHAM!, 30 seconds later my sinuses were stuffed up, my nose started running and i sneezed a couple of times. just like that.

i guess tree pollens are definitely on my list.
i decided not to ride the bike today. i'm going to do my chores with the cage.
i have to go out and pick up a bottle fluticasone nasal spray (no, i don't work for them.) anyone have a fave anti-hay fever medicament?

My wife swears by Loratadine. Antihistamines work but make you sleepy. My allergies have subsided a lot over the decades, and now my main problem is that a lot of pollen in my eyes has the same effect as getting sand in them. I cup my hand under the faucet and rinse out my eyes one at a time whenever they get the sand feeling, and no more sand until I go out in the pollen again.

i have a variation on that theme. our kitchen sink has a gooseneck hose. i turn the faucet on and dump the water into a clean empty milk jug until the water is somewhat warm (i use the water later on the plants outside.) then i turn the hose up and rinse out my eyes. after a ride in the spring and early summer this feels great. just got back in from the local walgreen's and got me some of them there chemicals. snorted them into my sinuses and i am ready for the world. funny thing, i rode on sunday and i wasn't overly bothered by the hay fever all day. today though - wham.

Loratadine (Claritin) takes care of sneezing and runny eyes. You can deal with sinus headaches with Pseudoephidrine (a very effective decongestant) and Excedrine. All of these are available as over-the-counter remedies for not much money.

ENT Doctor handed me Nasalcort today. Say on bottle it can take a week to take full affect. Said reduce salt, sugar, caffeine, alcohol intake. Might a swell be dead with that kind of diet. Called it some fancy name, endolymphatic hydrops/bulging ear drum/ Meniere's.
