Really Wayne , that's what you got from that ???

 Dusty

Dusty, from Freddie Spencer on that's why pro world road racers haven't raced in the IoM series.  And unfortunately even now young racers in flat track racing are getting killed because the safety conditions haven't improved enough to stop it from happening.  But if that doesn't bother the spectators, so be it.

Actually I think it was KR Sr that refused to race the IOM . But that isn't the point . The racing is closer on dirt track and The Irish series than it is in GP racing , that is the point. Don't forget , there have been fatalities in the GP series over the last few years also , racing is dangerous .

Racing is closer in dirt track?  Apparently you haven't watched any GP racing recently.  Nowadays they are trading paint and knocking each other off track.  But their racing moves have more room off track to let the fallers off to not get hurt and their leathers inflate instantly to protect their bodies in a get off.  Flat trackers have none of that and still crash into hay bales.  Instead of hay bales road racers have track air fence to protect them.   Wake up, Dusty.

Liking MotoGP doesn't keep me from liking anything else.

IoM is against the clock-not much close racing there.

I get to watch MotoGP about every 2 weeks. I still can't find too many NW 200s .

Until this year I couldn't get too into the flat track. Frankly I like motorcycle racing more than motorcycle rider racing.

There's a difference to me between road racing and oval racing.  Flat track and most stock car racing is oval.  I only get excited about road racing, having done it myself.

Everyone can like what they want.  The top of the rung for Motorcycle Racing based on money and fan support is MotoGP and Supercross.

You don't have to like it.  But that's the truth.  I think Moto GP is the best.  I'd rather watch Flat Track and lesser rungs of road racing rather than Motocross but it is what it is.

There ain't anything bigger than the Indy 500, the 350k fans that show up, and I think it's the greatest race in the world.

And Flat Track and "Real" Road Racing are way too dangerous.  Something has got change there.

Having said all that:

I am not sure why someone has kick over the table every time someone else would like to talk about Moto GP.  If you don't like Moto GP, you don't have to read this thread, you can even start your own.

And because you may not like Moto GP threads, you don't have to delete it.  Some of us would like to talk about Moto GP without the thread being deleted or trolled.

We all don't have to like the same things.

Maybe you should wake up Wayne , flat track has been employing air fencing for some years now .

The last gp race I watched was a parade , punctuated by brief periods of real racing .
Flat track races are short events where the bar banging lasts the whole race  .

There are several events in the Irish Series , the IOM and the NW 200 are only 2 in that series . Heck , they run a couple of other races on the Island , one of them being the Southern 100 .

OH , GP racing is fine , wasn't trying to diss it , but stating unequivocally that it is the greatest racing is silly . And the idea that going around in circles is easy , well no less an authority than AJ Foyt would disagree with that . Looks easy , trust me , it isn't .

I didn't say it was easy, Dusty.   What I mean is it is boring to me.  Going fast in an oval and going fast on a track with mucho different curves & elevations both take different skills.  I appreciate the skills needed for more elevation and curves with more radius changes, not to mention cambers too, let alone blind curves and higher speeds.  :smiley  I've been to the Sacramento mile and Lodi cycle bowl, among other flat track venue, like Sidewinders in the `70s east of Portland, Or. Now THAT was a  flat track race worth seeing, IMHO, on the side of a hill.  Actually it was a triangle track on the side of a hill.     Will never forget Eddie 'headstander' Herman.

Being a technical thinking kind of guy, I can appreciate what goes into all kinds of racing, just like a good pitching dual in baseball starts getting hard to keep up with where a slugfest is much easier (if you don't understand or disagree, that's OK but you're not going to convince me otherwise so give it a rest, please).

I prefer watching road racing over flat track because of the braking aspect of road racing and longer race courses. Yes, not as much bar banging but there is a lot to think about as they follow each other around in the parade (except for some examples like the famous dual between Rossi and Marquez a couple seasons back where I lost count of the number of passes before the "incident").
The best part of riding a motorcycle is to tilt the horizon and to lift the front coming out of a corner and to drift the back end powering thru loose dirt and to catch a little air topping a hill and... yeah it's all good!

Let's hope not...that was, while polarizing, still an interesting event in the grand scheme of the whole season.  Why don't we slightly shift the discussion to the subtleties of Superbike racing vs. Moto GP and why a top notch rider in one cannot necessarily make it to the top of the heap in the other (statistically speaking, very few do, there are of course exceptions).

Discuss!!

Paul, it was only polarizing to the folks that don't like GP and want to tell you that when you only want to talk about GP.

You really don't want to air this out in public , trust me . We received a good cussing for letting that thread run , from one of the main participants , which is why Luap nuked it. Let it go or this one will go bye bye also . When we get messages cussing us , things don't work out well .

None of that really bothers me, it's more for conversation, i don't get my ego wrapped up into it to get offended by different opinions!  Enjoy!

yeah but you're the guy that's trolling GP.  You could've started your own thread about Real Road Racing (tape delayed on CBS Sports).  No one goes on the Flat Track Thread (Fans Choice) and disses it saying Moto GP is so much better.

You've stirred this up on your own.
