The Goodwin Fire near Prescott, AZ is still burning....

Although the fire is 40-45% contained,  (THANK YOU Hot Shots and fire crew!!!)  this photo was from this afternoon in Prescott Valley.

I see they caught the bozo who figured he could fly his photo drone around while aircraft were supporting the firefighters. They had to ground the planes after the twit flew his drone into the path of one of the fire-suppression planes. It delayed both air and ground efforts for several hours, critical during the early spread of this fire.

Major wildfires are as spectacular as they are dangerous - but it's best to leave the coverage to pros who have good communication with the smoke-eaters.

The drone operator will have local and Federal problems.  Good for him!

The relative quiet about the fire itself is likely a good sign - given the terrain around there, any firefighting is difficult. Hopefully the slightly wetter winter had enough lasting effect to slow things a bit from the way they would have been.

One of my brothers and his wife had cabin built in Prescott and moved up there about 4 years ago. They can easily see the smoke from their balcony but thankfully the fire is moving away from them.
