Yes that does look minty fresh, doesn't it? No one tell him it's a $2k bike running...

Neat old bikes for sure; they're what I started on and I'd love to have another.

However, for the reason chuck mentioned, you need to be ready for a blown crank seal or something similar - the seller taking a $1200 hit for a "gummed carburetor" is ... well, maybe not unlikely but you'd better be ready!

Worth way more than the asking price in just parts if you're into that sort of thing.

Your point is well taken, but I believe it has an aluminum labyrinth seal between cylinders, and the outer two rubber seals are not terrible to change.

Wow... If it were close by, I would not hesitate to buy it in a second. Luckily, it is a long way from me though.

Wonder about the Vermont registration a bit?

Registering a old bike in Vermont is a common deal if you bought a bike with no title. I forget the specifics but it's easy to register the motorcycle in Vermont with just a bill of sale if it is under a certain engine size and of a specific age.

Vermont does not offer titles for bikes over a certain age and instead you get a transferable registration. This transferable registration can then be taken to your local DMV and will get you a title if your state requires it.

I went this route when I bought my 1965 DKW. The title was long gone but the previous owner filled out a bill of sale form which I downloaded from the Vermont DMV website. I sent in the bill of sale, Vermont registration paperwork and a check then waited. In a couple of weeks I got a new Vermont plate and the registration.

Since I didn't want to have Vermont plates on my AZ motorcycle I took the registration down to the local DMV and used it to get an Arizona title.
