Norge heated clothing recommendations
« on: August 13, 2017, 10:14:02 PM »
Will a Norge run a First Gear 90W jacket liner and the heated grips?

Any recommendations on jacket liners out there? Thanks

I use heated gear on my Norge (once I'm out of the Mojave!), and haven't had any issues. Make sure you have a controller, as you likely will not need to run it on full very often.

Warm'n'Safe is the premier gear, but even less expensive options like the Cycle Gear house brand can do the job.

Yes it will.  Excellent choice.   First gear is WarmnSafe rebranded for Tucker Rocky.  If you go to Warm n Safe website they are having a big sale. I think 40% off.

No problem. The Norge has plenty of extra watts to run heated clothing.

:1: on Warm n Safe.  Also  :1: on the controller.  The WnS controller is not a rheostat but rather a timed pulse controller so you are not wasting electrons when running at less than full power.  The controller is a really big deal.  A good vest or liner will put out too much heat for all but the coldest days so it is smart to be able to moderate the heat as needed.  Note that the WnS liner is set up so you can plug heated gloves into the sleeves, also can plug in heated pants liner and even heated socks.  I tried the socks and did not like them because the wires ate into my feet (this was 10 years ago and they have probably improved greatly since then).  My liner uses very fine wires that I hardly notice.
