Year over year Stelvio differences
« on: August 22, 2017, 11:48:48 AM »
Greetings,

Wanting to know which Stelvios were available stateside and the year over year differences.
Been searching but haven't seen a definitive comparison and answers.
For instance was the non NTX available in the US? If so, what years?
I read the 2010 had some changes with mapping etc. that really helped, any testimonials to that?
Really want the smaller gas tank version if at all possible.
I do know there were some upper end issues but recalls should have covered these?

Thanks in advance mates!

Well you'd be disappointed as there was never a recall for the big 'Elephant in the corner' of the flat tappet top end.

All pre NTX models are flat tappet, small tank, 50mm fork and have fiddly bodywork that is a PITA to remove and replace. They also use a wider rear rim that takes a fatter tyre for which there are fewer tyre options.

The ins and outs of fixing the flat tappet top end have been covered extensively here and on other places on the web before and are easily searchable but make no bones about it every flat tappet top end is going to fail and needs to be fixed. Sooner rather than later is the best option.

Thanks Pete, you’ve confirmed my suspicions. Should’ve kept my 2013...oh well. On to find a 2012 post March manufacture, as I recall your previous thread saying.

2013 to be safe. If buying a 2012 whip a rocker cover off and check pre purchase to be sure.

There is a small tank that has been rollerised with all the fruit on consignment at Winchester Motorsports owned by a member here at a VERY attractive price. I'd be all over it like a rash if it wasn't for the fact I haven't got any spare cash right now.

I will look that up unless you have a link to it. Thanks Pete!
